@marcoarment @CastroPodcasts Is it a “be in charge of your own nightmare” type thing or some other reason?

Thanks.

Listening to ATP and Macro got a question about using different languages for a web crawler that handles RSS feeds.

@marcoarment have you ever discussed why you maintain your own directory? I know @CastroPodcasts does this as well.

It never fails. When I get to the end of a project I get a little down and start thinking of my own little software projects. 🌾

Which makes me wish I could do those full time. 🕛

Every time.

@StevenJV Oh, man, I love that scene. It makes me LOL every darned time.

Question is, are they old, non-algorithm knowing, developer? 🤣 twitter.com/_eseidel/statu…

@StevenJV SPEAK ENGLISH MR VORE!

And I thought I was just an old man for not understanding why people do this.

I can’t reply to this but wanted to mention I loved Ethan Hawke in Assault on Precinct 13 and Sinister, add Predestination and Daybreakers to my list as well. twitter.com/sanguish/statu…

@OluseyiSonaiya 🤣

@ios_dev_alb The only one I haven’t been able to crack is “Make a living as an indie developer.”

😃

@gedeon I’m coming over for dinner, Ged.

I love my Filet Mignon medium-rare. 🤤

@codingmilf YOU CAN DO THIS!

@codingmilf I don’t consider myself smart. I just really love developing software and was driven to make that happen. I have no formal education in CS and I’m definitely not an algorithms person.

@codingmilf * Learned BASIC in 1984, got a job doing that in ‘87

  • Learned C in ‘88
  • Learned Windows API ~91
  • Learned C++ in ‘93 Spent years and years writing Windows apps in C/C++. Did some Linux dev in C++. Switched to iOS + Objective-C late 2008 Swift 2015

@EvanMcMullin The West Wing

@eneko I haven’t used it in so long I’m not sure.

@eneko I kind of thought you’d say that. 😉

@eneko Well, there is always cross platform Kotlin.

I’d be open to using that for lower level shared code but go fully native for the UI.

Cross platform Swift would also be really nice to have.
